The Vital Disabled Perspective on Public Boards and Commissions

Disability Lead supports and encourages Member engagement on public boards and commissions at City, County, State, and Federal levels. Our perspective is needed on all boards, as every issue is a disability issue. Jae Jin Pak, Disability Lead Member, has served on several Illinois boards, including the Statewide Independent Living Council, the Health and Human Services Task Force, and the Access and Functional Needs Advisory Committee. Though he has been able to work with many disabled people on these boards, he wants to see even more participation by our community. In this event, we learned more about Jae Jin’s experience, how people could get involved, and what public board service can look like.
