Ignacio Balcazar, a Bolivian-born mathematician and disability advocate, lost his hearing as a newborn due to septicemia treatment. Implanted with a cochlear device at age four, he has since excelled academically, earning a master’s in applied mathematics with a focus on actuarial science from DePaul University. An award-winning chess player and recipient of multiple academic honors, Ignacio is a member of the Organization Latino Actuaries, supervised DePaul’s TRiO math program, and actively participates in the actuarial science community. Committed to data analysis and risk management, Ignacio combines his professional skills with disability advocacy, creating content to promote inclusivity and awareness.
