
Phyllis Hampton is a dedicated advocate for accessibility, equity, and community engagement, with more than 15 years of experience serving diverse populations across educational, healthcare, and nonprofit settings. She holds a Master of Arts in College Counseling and Student Affairs from Roosevelt University, where she graduated valedictorian and co-led disability services initiatives that boosted retention among students with disabilities to 93%. Her career is distinguished by the integration of direct advocacy with program development. As a Disability Services Intern at Roosevelt University, she introduced JAWS screen reader technology to enhance access for visually impaired students and conducted institutional accessibility audits. In healthcare roles at the University of Chicago Medical Center and Northwestern Memorial Hospital, she built a reputation for compassionate, detail-oriented service while ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards. Beyond her professional work, Phyllis has demonstrated sustained volunteer leadership. She currently serves as Vice-Chairperson of Metra’s ADA Advisory Committee, where she represents blind and visually impaired passengers and advises on ADA compliance. As Vice President of Perdue Production, LLC, she has led community-based fundraising and scholarship efforts for underserved high school students. Phyllis has earned certification as an Older Youth Permanency Advocate through the Sankofa Safe Child Initiative and holds Mental Health First Aid USA certification.
