Susan is a legal and human resources professional with expertise in fair housing and equal employment opportunity. She currently works for Access Living, Chicago's Center for Independent Living. As Access Living's Fair Housing Testing Coordinator, she recruits and trains fair housing testers, conducts fair housing tests, provides fair housing trainings, and engages in policy advocacy. She also trains and mentors law clerks and supports the attorneys with paralegal duties. Prior to coming to Access Living, Susan worked for the Rhode Island Commission for Human Rights, investigating fair housing complaints and employment discrimination, and leading robust education and outreach campaigns. She is a trained mediator and has mediated landlord-tenant disputes. She is also a certified fair housing investigator through the National Fair Housing Training Academy in Washington, D.C. Susan served as a board member for the Community Mediation Center of Rhode Island. She has lived in Europe several times, most recently working for a European-wide network of peace organizations. Outside of work, Susan enjoys art, reading, dining out, coffee, long conversations with family and friends, continuing the 2 year+ Wordle solve streak with her mother, and, of course, cats.
