Happy New Year! As we begin 2024, we want to share with you some of last year's achievements and advancements of our incredible Disability Lead Members.
In 2023, Disability Lead identified and made connections to more than 150 opportunities for our Members with 51 successful connections. Some highlights include:
- James Ferg-Cadima was appointed Chief of Staff and Senior Legal Counsel at TheDream.US
- Riley Spreadbury is now an Independent Living Advocate and Fast Track Coordinator at the Disability Resource Center
- Andre Johnson was a Techrise semifinalist
- Sydney Holman was appointed the Deputy Mayor of Intergovernmental Affairs at the City of Chicago
- Emily Blum was interviewed on WLS Radio
- Amy Johnson spoke at the Executives Club
Beyond our work to directly connect our Members to opportunities and advancements, we are delighted to celebrate all the ways they're leading in their own right:
- Kruti Shah is now a co-host on the Docs With Disabilities podcast, and she interviewed fellow Member Katherine Vakil
- LaShon Gurrola started a lupus support group in Oak Park
- Karen Sheley was honored by the Women's Bar Association of Illinois as one of the Top Women Lawyers of 2023
- Megan Doherty was interviewed on the Crip Crap podcast by fellow Member Kennedy Healy
